Lake & Pond Committee

The Lake and Pond Committee is charged with maintaining the biological, chemical and physical integrity of Lake Braddock and Blackburn Pond.  This encompasses a wide variety of tasks.  Click here for a copy of the L&P Committee's charter.

Major projects often revolve around minimizing erosion and sedimentation.  The most significant project is the dredging of the forebays in Lake Braddock and Blackburn Pond.  Click here for the latest news on dredging.  Other projects to improve water quality and aquatic habitat include installing smaller erosion controls to help reduce the flow of sediment into the waters; participating in County and regional water quality groups; organizing Pride in Lake Braddock Day; developing long-term plans for the lake and pond, their shorelines, and other natural resources; and managing invasive species.

The Lake and Pond Committee generally meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Ashbourn Community Center.  New members are always welcome!
