Trash and Recycling Procedures

Lake Braddock Community Association Trash/Recycling Procedures

Procedures governing trash within LBCA:

·         All household trash must be placed at the curb, in front of your residence.

·         Trash should be placed in a closed, airtight, rodent-proof garbage can with a tight fitting lid.

·         Townhouse trash is never to be stored in front of the property except for trash pick up.

·         Rock, concrete, dirt, cinder block, outdoor building materials, and old bathroom materials will not be collected on trash or bulk pickup days. These items should be taken to the county landfill.

·         Bagged grass clippings and small bundles of branches tied with twine/rope/string will be picked up on Thursday afternoons.

·         Large indoor items such as kitchen appliances, bed frames, mattresses etc. And other indoor items will be picked up on Saturday of each month. Single-family homeowners should call the office for pick up. 

·         You must take the following items to be disposed of at the Fairfax County landfill or transfer station: Paint, thinners, stains, gasoline, kerosene, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, used motor oil, car batteries, other batteries and solvents.  DO NOT PUT THESE ITEMS OUT FOR PICKUP; THE TRASH SERVICE WILL NOT PICK THEM UP.

·         DO NOT PLACE household or bulk trash items on LBCA common areas.

Procedures governing recycling with LBCA:

·         Recycling is every Wednesday for all streets in the community

·         Items must be placed outside no earlier than 6 AM Wednesday morning

·         The following items are to be recycled:

  •   Newspaper, place newspaper in a paper bag or tied into a bundle
  •   Other paper and/or cardboard
  •   Cereal boxes, phone books, file folders, coupons, magazines, junk mail,small cardboard boxes.  Large    cardboard boxes must be broken down and tied in a bundle.
  •  These items must be placed in bags separate from newspapers, and all other recycling items
  •   Glass bottles and jars, on clear, green and brown glass is acceptable.  Insure that all bottles and jars are     rinsed of all  food particles.  Also remove all lids and caps
  •  Metal cans include food and beverage cans, steel and aluminum.  Insure that all cans are rinsed of all food particles

-   Plastics that contain the numbers 1 or 2 inside the recycle arrow symbol on the bottom of the container.  Ensure that  all plastics are rinsed of all food particles.  Remove and lids or caps

Bulk Trash is picked up every Saturday unless it is the 5th Saturday of a month.  No Bulk trash picked up on the 5th Saturday.
